Having started his professional career in private practice, later becoming a Partner and subsequently Director of chartered building surveying practice Hamson Partnership Limited, Simon became Chief Operating Officer – Consulting for the Norse Group in 2018.
He has overall responsibility for strategic and operational delivery of professional consultancy, together with property-based partnerships and a number of group investment companies. He has overseen the establishment of numerous joint venture arrangements and sits on a number of company boards, including a continued relationship, as a director, with Hamson Barron Smith.
During his time with the Norse Group he led the consolidation of various group companies to form Hamson Barron Smith, now a multi-disciplinary design and professional services company, and latterly promoted and oversaw the establishment of Norse Consulting. Having the opportunity to reshape the consultancy offering within the Norse Group and subsequently bring Norse Consulting to life has been one of the highlights of his career.
Among his other proudest achievements has been his advisory work with major London museums, particularly at the Natural History Museum, where he provided varied building surveying consultancy across a diverse range of projects including the conservation of the building fabric, notably the renowned terracotta and mosaic, to the Grade I listed building.
Simon has been Framework Agreement Director for a range of organisations, including the Royal Free Hampstead NHS Trust, Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, St Mary’s University College, Sussex Police Authority and West Sussex County Council.
In his spare time, Simon develops and builds his own homes.
