SIMON SLATER

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR ARCHITECTURE, HAMSON BARRON SMITH B Arch (Hons), BSc, RIAS, RIBADesign

Simon is the associate director with management lead responsibility for the HBS London architects and landscape architects’ multi-disciplinary studio on Tower Bridge Road in London.

He has extensive experience as a partner in private practice and architect design team lead on a number of award-winning projects, as an art consultant and client design adviser.

His most prominent portfolio of work has been a number of mixed-use, urban regeneration projects, including the award winning Westway Sports Centre, on a 23-acre site in West London for Westway Development Trust since 1990.

He has also designed several arts, cultural, community, health care and residential projects. These include a diverse range of projects such as London Lighthouse (the UK’s first AIDS hospice), the Tabernacle Arts Centre (a large multi-cultural lottery funded conversion of a former church) and art galleries for private clients.

Simon has collaborated with artists on public realm projects and their own studio developments. In addition, he has been involved in commercial and retail developments and was responsible for the concept design and delivery of first phase of the successful Carluccio’s Restaurant chain.

As an experienced architect and collaborator, I enjoy working with clients, colleagues, contractors and wider members of the design team to develop the best possible solution that is appropriate, innovative and sustainable.
