Project Summary
The inaugural initiative of the Brentwood Borough Council’s Strategic Housing Development Programme (SHDP), Brookfield Close, was conceptualised to optimise the use of land and assets to create truly affordable housing on previously developed brownfield sites over seven years.
Collaborating as the council’s strategic partner, Hamson Barron Smith—a division of Norse Consulting—brought the full suite of multidisciplinary design and planning consultancy services expertise to the project in close partnership with our client.
Brookfield Close, once a neglected area dotted with dilapidated garages and an unused community centre, is set to be transformed into 61 brand-new, modern, net-zero carbon homes. The project aims to meet a crucial need for affordable housing within the community, ensuring that 100% of these homes are available within the Council’s Housing Revenue account.
This development pushes the boundaries of what is achievable, setting a new benchmark for residential living by addressing fuel poverty and enhancing the health and wellbeing of its residents.
